Elizabeth (Pat) Hammel Dooley died January 24, 2009 in Port Orchard, Washington. She was born on September 22, 1907 to John Hammel and Mary Grimes Hammel in Ticonderoga, New York. After attending a one room school house in Shoreham, Vermont, she continued her education at St. Mary's School, Burlington, Vermont and the College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle, New York. She taught at Pittsford High School in Vermont from 1928 to 1936. In 1936 she married Henry E. Dooley. Later in life she taught Latin at Burr and Burton Academy, Manchester Vermont from 1976 until 1978. At the age of 90 Pat moved across the country to Port Orchard, WA to be near family. She was a member of the Ekwanok Country Club, Manchester, VT and Catholic Daughters of America. She played golf until she was 90, enjoyed bridge & book clubs until the end. Pat was an example of kindness, strength, humor, common sense, learning, dignity and grace. She had a great love for life and new experiences. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband and a son Lt. James E. Dooley, who was shot down while flying his A4E over North Vietnam. She is survived by her children, Mary Ellen (Thomas) Donnelly, Patricia (Michael) Tym and Michael(Mary) Dooley. Grandchildren: Michelle (Scott) Brown, Thomas Donnelly, Peter Donnelly, Christopher (Linsly) Donnelly, Lisa Gorski, Michael (Shae) Tym, Matthew (Margaret) Tym, Caitlin Dooley. Great Grandchildren: Melissa, Dooley, Jarrett, Cole, Tess, Steven, Kristen, Matthew, Michael, Olivia, Jessica, Samuel, Ethan, Alexandra, Deirdre, Cameron. Funeral Mass will be at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard on January 28, 2009 at 12:00 noon. Inurnment will be at a later date in Manchester, Vermont.
