Ellner H. Peterson, 91, of Port Orchard, WA, died March 9, 2003, at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard. She had resided in Port Orchard for the past 5 years.Ellner was born July 31, 1911, in Wahpeton, ND, to Paul and Alvina (Beling) Popp. She lived in Wahpeton until 1955, except for a brief time in Yakima, WA. She married Floyd Peterson on January 23, 1936, in Wahpeton. He preceded her in death in 1965.Ellner raised 7 children. She also worked at Dickinson's Cannery in Tigard, OR, making jams and jellies. She enjoyed eating food and was very particular about the food she ate. She also enjoyed being with her great grandchildren and hearing stories about them.Ellner is survived by 4 sons, Mervyn Peterson, of Sun Lakes, AZ, Maynard Peterson and Erling Peterson, of Port Orchard, WA, and Jerome Peterson, of Portland, OR; 2 daughters Constance Fessler and Gloria Woodward, of Port Orchard; a sister Alva Scheller, of Hankinson, ND; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. Ellner was preceded in death by a daughter Sharon Stanfield; 4 brothers Orville Popp, Gordon Popp, Vernon Popp, and Dellwood Popp; and 3 sisters Madella Popp, Ruby Popp, and Fern Canham.Services will be held Saturday March 15, 2003, 2:00PM, at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Interment will be Monday, March 17, 2:00PM at Willamette National Cemetery next to her husband in Portland, OR.Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Kitsap Unit, PO Box 2383, Bremerton, WA 98310, or to the Arthritis Foundation, Washington Chapter, 552 S.
