Eric F Bartell, 60, also known as Bart and even "crazy talk," to some, passed away on August 3, 2021 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Salem, Oregon on June 19, 1961 to parents Moreland and Lorene Bartell. He attended McNary High School. He was a Senior Defense Contractor Technician at Raytheon. Eric received numerous commendation and awards during his six year career in the United States Navy. He served three years with the US Naval Submarine Force on the USS Dallas SSN 700.
Eric loved to explain things, he loved telling jokes and making his friends and family laugh. He was the life of the party, and loved the attention. If there was a question, Eric always knew the answer. Among his other favorite activities were enjoying bonfires with his family, motorcycle trips, attending the Oregon Jamboree, bird watching, collecting anything he could get for free, doting on his beloved cats and Jackie Chan.
When he could he loved spending time sitting on his deck, keeping busy at the house, at Mom's house making pickles and grape juice, and of course, working. A point of pride for Eric was restoring his dad's 1951, 650 BSA.
Eric is preceded in passing by his father, Moreland Bartell; brother Dean Bartell; and some of his many beloved cats.
Eric is survived by his wife, Kim Bartell; daughter Tania Bartell; son Christopher Bartell; grandson Cadence Bartell; mother Lorene Bartell; brothers David (Beth) Bartell, Thomas (Leighanne) Bartell, and Patrick (Tina) Bartell; sisters Phyllis (Peter) Tiernan, Amy (Dan) Dixon and Susan Bartell. Also many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, friends, shipmates, acquaintances, and his family cats.
Eric took great pleasure in helping people and keeping busy ("Putzing" as he said). The family would request in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Pancreatic Cancer research at pancan.org
