Ernest Bell

Ernest David Henry Bell of Port Orchard, Washington died July 11, 2005 at Harrison Memorial Hospital due to Emphysima. He was 83. He was born November 27, 1921 in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England to Frederick and Henrietta (Green) Bell. He married Dixie J. Paul in Port Orchard, Washington. Ernest attended school in England. He served in the British Army fron 1940 - 1946 in the Fourth Royal Norfolk Regiment. He attained rank of Sergeant. Ernest was captured in Singapore in 1941 - was a Japanese P.O.W. in Burma, built railways through the jungle to the River Kwai. Ernest was a photographer: manager for a photo development company for 35 years in England - retiring in 1986. He oversaw a factory where film developing and custom photography processing was done. He was a member of Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses of Port Orchard; Audobon Society; Japanese Interment Survivors Association. Ernest injoyed photography, digital photography, computers and card-making. He is survived by wife, Dixie (Paul) Bell; sons - Peter Bell (& wife, Astrid) of London, England, Lewis Allen (& wife, Tania) of Home, Washington; daughters - Susan Hoch (& husband, Carl) and Kay Jake (& husband,Dan) of Port Orchard, Washington; 10 grandchildren: Jason Reed; Jennifer Reeves; Gary Hoch; Mike, Ron, John and Bill Jake; Michelle O'Neal; Lewis Sullivan, Joseph Allen; 12 great-grandchildren: Brycen and Kylen Reeves; Dylan, Rachael, Danielle, Troy, Chelsi & Lance Jake; Nicholas, Justin and Stephanie O'Neal. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at Kingdom Hall, 1901 Bielmeier Rd. SE, Port Orchard, Washington.
