Mr. Ernest H. ''Tuffy'' Dean, thirty four year resident of Port Orchard, Washington, died of natural causes on July 23, 2001 at his residence.Mr. Dean was born on April 23, 1914 in Morrill, Nebraska to Rolland and Harriet(Baugh) Dean. He served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II from 1942 until 1947.He received the following decorations: Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon(4 Stars), American Area Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon(2 Stars), Good Conduct Medal.He was a Ship's Fitter First Class at the time of his discharge.On December 17, 1943 he married Susan F.McGinnis in Lusk, Wyoming. She preceded him in death on February 8, 1995.He worked as a Pipefitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington for fourteen years, retiring in 1986.Mr. Dean was an avid Outdoorsman and loved his family very much.Survivors are daughters, Kim Mayhue of Casper, Wyoming; Charol Riedel of Port Orchard,Washington; Debra Beall of Deaver, Wyoming; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Edward and Rolland Dean.Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.Visitation of Mr. Dean is scheduled on Thursday, July 26, 2001, from 10:00 a.m.until 5 p.m. at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 27, 2001 at Rill Chapel. Chaplain Melvin Byrd will be officiating. A reception will follow the service at Rill Chapel, and then there will be a gathering at Charol's residence. Private Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bremerton.
