Eugene 'Red' Barlet, 83, a resident of Bremerton, died June 13, 2010 of natural causes at St. Anthony's Hospital in Gig Harbor. He was born in Pasedna, CA to Thomas and Elizabeth (Pretz) Barlet on May 8, 1927. Red attended schools in California. He served in the United States Navy for over 20 years attaining the 'Mustang' Rank of Lieutenant in Engineering and later retiring as Senior Chief Petty Officer specializing in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. He was particularly proud of his tours in the Far East including tours on the USS Taussig, DD746; Pine Island CV 12; Philippine Sea CV 47 and Ranger CV4. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve, American Legion and VFW all of Bremerton. Red was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Barlet. He is survived by his sister Marie Oakley of Sequim and special friends Kathy and Wayne Dulaney. A Celebration of Life Gathering and Pot Luck will be July 10, 2010 from 1 to 3 pm at the Fleet Reserve Association, 521 National Ave. South, Bremerton, Washington.
