Eugene Ecklund

Eugene D. Ecklund, 66, a resident of Port Orchard died November 3, 2007 in Bremerton. He was born November 11, 1940 to Roy and Veronica (Meyer) Ecklund in Kenmare, North Dakota. Gene married Judy Walter in Port Orchard on March 14, 1969. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1959. Gene owned and operated Ecklunds Drywall and Painting for 30 years retiring in 2002. He also worked a s a painter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for a few years in the early 70's. Gene was a Police Commissioner in Port Orchard from 1992 to 2002, and a member of FOE 2338 in Port Orchard. He loved fishing, hunting, family gatherings, Casino, cards and his friends, his wife, children and grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by his brother Darvin Ecklund; sisters Delorus Hovermale and Elaine Zimny. He is survived by his loving wife Judy, sons Donny Ecklund (Chris) and Bret Ecklund (Erica), both of Port Orchard; daughters Dannetee Tanner of Indianapolis, Indiana, Dolina Bernard of California and Jodi Ecklund; bothers Donald Ecklund (Tootie), Gerald Ecklund (Pat), LaVern Ecklund (Patience) and Jack Ecklund (Linda), all of Port Orchard; sisters Roslaie Wenholz (Bob) of Kalispell, Montana, Vikki Fine of Allyn, Washington and Bonnie Bennett (Jim) of Port Orchard; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and special friends Carl and Carmen Tinker. Viewing will be at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard on Fri, November 9th from noon to 5:00 pm and Saturday November 10th form 9:00 am to noon. Celebration of life will be at Christian Life Center, 1780 SE Lincoln, Port Orchard on Saturday, November 10th at 2:00 pm.
