Eugene Evans

Some of us were very fortunate to know Eugene D Evans who lived in Belfair for the past 30+ years. Gene was born in Knickerbockers New York in 1930 moved to New Jersey then in June 1947 he moved with his family to Los Angeles California. In August of 1948 he joined the Marines was discharged in 1952 making his profession as an insurance salesman & entertaining children for several years as Santa Clause at Bullocks in LA. Gene’s father Forrest was an Army Surgeon who passed in 1969 . Gene and his mother Verna moved to the North Shore of Hood Canal in the 70’s with their kitty “killer” enjoying life on the beach. Gene’s mother passed away in 1989. While Gene had a passion for horse racing and football, he lived a quiet life and shared many stories of early years. Gene passed away like he lived, quietly, on January 26, 2010.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Robert and sister Rosemary. Our thanks to Life Care of Port Orchard and Patti Rio for their loving care extended to Gene in his last few months. We will miss your wit Mr. Evans! At his request there will be no services.
