Euphemia O. Knox, 81, of Port Orchard, WA, died May 3, 2012 at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard. Phemie was born December 21, 1930 in Fredonia, Kansas to Clifford and Ida (Yates) Meigs. She worked as a certified teacher and a nurse, retiring from Ridgemont Terrace. Phemie was dedicated to family and friends, and never met a stranger and helped everyone she met, opening her home to people who needed a place to stay. She always said, “I can get that for you.” She especially loved family dinners and celebrated ALL holidays. Puppies were a big part of her life and she collected bells, dolls, and stuffed animals. Phemie was a 50 year certificate holder for volunteering at the Kitsap County Fair and loved playing Bingo. She played the piano and made the best fudge in the world. Phemie was preceded in death by her brothers Max, Bill and Ken Meigs and sister Phyllis Cook. She is survived by longtime friend Jim Sauget; bothers Chet (Gladys) Meigs, Clifford Meigs, and Charlie (Dena) Meigs; sisters Freda Spain and Mable Rainey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff at the 300 wing at Ridgemont Terrace. Graveside inurnment service will be held 2PM, Monday, May 14, 2012 at Sunset Lane Memorial Park.
