E.W. "Gene" Brown died July 27, 2002 in Seattle, Washington following a long term battle with Alzheimers. He was 67.He was born in Nett Lake, Minnesota to Stephen and Elva (Isham) Brown, Sr.He graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington in 1952; and, attended Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington and Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. He studied electronics and graduated as an Electronics Tech from Devries College. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959 and received the National Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. The highest rank attained was E-5.He was an electronic's technician for the FAA for 32 years and retired in 1990."Gene" enjoyed shuffle board, reading, walks with his pup "Mac". He was a member of the United Methodist Church.He is survived by his wife Vera (Smith) Brown, step-son Monty Edwin Otis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, daughter Pamela E. Mattingly of Rochester, Washngton, Victoria Sandstrom of Port Orchard, Washington, brothers Ira A. Brown of Virginia, Minnesota, F.George Brown of Port Orchard, Washington, sister Helen Bryant of Port Orchard, Washington, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son Eugene Steve Brown in 1989, daughter Mary Susan Brown in 1989 (same car accident) and 3 brothers.Services will be held at Rill Chapel of Port Orchard, Washington August 2, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. and inurnment will be at Sunset Lane Cemetery.Visitations will be held at Rill Chapel Wednesday July 31st noon through 5:00 p.m., Thursday August 1st 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and Friday August 2nd 9:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m.Memorial Donations may be made to:Alzheimer's Association12721 30th Ave. N.E., Suite 101Seattle, WA. 98125
