Faliticus Mcmurray

October 15, 1916 — September 9, 2010

Faliticus Hatch McMurray, nicknamed "Peggie", passed away in the loving arms of her daughter, Martha, on September 9, 2010.  She was born October 15, 1916 in Dallas, Texas where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High.  From 1933 to 1939 Peggie was employed as an office worker at various businesses while furthering her education and graduating from Rutherford Business College. It was also during this time that she met and married Philip Olen Moses. In 1941 Peggie married Wiley Woodrow Walters and worked as a stenographer for the Army Air Corps in Washington D. C. and Trinidad.  She became a housewife and mother of twins in 1945 returning to work a year later after the death of her husband in a military plane crash.  In 1948 she married Robert Cleveland McMurray, once again becoming a housewife and the mother of her third child. Her business career began in 1963 at Autonetics of Rockwell International Corporation in Anaheim, California.  While employed there, Peggie attended Pepperdine University at night graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Administration.  She retired early from Rockwell International as a Field Engineering Administrative Assistant in 1978 with the opportunity to travel the world on a Yugoslavian freighter.  She moved to Visalia, California in 1979 and then to Port Orchard, Washington in 1995, her home of 16 years.  Peggie's final ten months were under the care of Martha and Mary Nursing Home in Poulsbo.  Other places she lived include the Philippines, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Alabama. Her joy was her family, friends, and her dogs Sparky and Molly.  Always there in times of need, she spread her love and wisdom upon us all.  She always put others first and never had an unkind word to say about anyone.  Peggie was a member of Eastern Star, volunteered for the American Red Cross, Girl Scouts of America, AARP to prepare income taxes, and various other service organizations.  In her spare time she traveled in and out of the country, with friends and family or without.  When home, she loved to garden.  Her favorite songs were "In The Garden", "You Are My Sunshine", and "The Yellow Rose of Texas."  Peggie taught her young children to stand with their hands on their hearts in reverence whenever they heard the "Yellow Rose" song. She was preceded in death by her parents Graham Macfie Hatch and Nettie Thielemann Hatch, brothers Donald and Graham Jr., Sister Margaret Solt, husbands Philip Olen Moses, Wiley Woodrow Walters, Sr., and Robert Cleveland McMurray Jr.; her grandchild April Christine Walters and her great grandchildren April Dawn Kniejski and Spencer Aragunde Beattie.  She is survived by her children Martha Jane McMurray, Wiley Woodrow Walters Jr., and Peggie Anne Rodriquez, her nephew Russell McAllister Solt III, eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and of course, Sparky and Molly. People often ask how she derived the name Faliticus (Fay-lit-ee-us) and her nickname Peggie.  She was named after her mother's roommate at school in a convent.  Its roots are from the Latin word for "happiness."  The story goes that when her father was passing out cigars in honor of her birth he was asked his new daughter's name.  He replied, "Heck, I don't know.  It's something like lettuce; I'm going to call her Peggie."  ("Peggie is a common nickname for "Margaret", the name of her paternal grandmother.) At her request there will be no service.  A private memorial will be held later.
