Slim passed away peacefully November 12, 2014 at Harrison Hospital. He was born to Joseph and Minnie Willis in Louisville, Illinois on February 28, 1926, where he grew up on a farm. He was the youngest son of 11 siblings. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on February 26, 1944 and served during WWII. He was Honorably Discharged May 21, 1946. Upon his separation from the Navy he relocated to Washington where he met and married Leafy Tutewiler on August 9, 1947 in Carbonado, Washington. He worked as a logger for St. Paul Lumber Co. and as a Merchant Marine coming to PSNS in 1951. He was a machinist in Shop 38 until his retirement in 1976.
Survived by his daughter Terry Johnson; son-in-law Richard Wakefield; daughter-in-law Linda Brown; grandsons Jacob Johnson and Michael Willis; great grandchildren: Destiny Johnson and Mavrick Willis. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Leafy, sons Alan and David, grandson Jeffrey Willis, great grandson Tyler Johnson.
A service will be held at Rill Chapel on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 10:00AM in Port Orchard. Potluck reception to follow at Parkwood Community Club.
