Stella Mayo. She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1961. She attended Olympic
College, where she earned her AA, and Southern Illinois University where she earned her BA.
She married Thomas (Rocky) Alonzo on April 3, 1965, and they lived in various places around
the country before finally making Washington State their permanent home. Rocky passed away

Fran worked for Washington DSHS as a Secretary and through hard work and dedication she
became a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for DSHS in Bremerton and then Sumner, WA
where she worked until her retirement in 2001.
Fran and Rocky had four sons: Tom, Anthony, Steve, and Rory. Raising them allowed Fran to
volunteer her talents in many different activities: She served as a Den mother for the Cub Scouts,
a Sunday School Teacher at St. Gabriel Church in Port Orchard, and held positions such as
running concessions and serving as Player Agent on the Board of South Kitsap Western Little
League.
After raising 4 boys and retiring from 32 years of State employment, she found a new passion ,
devoting much of her time caring for her grandchildren, initially commuting daily between
Tacoma and Port Orchard, and later from Sunnyslope. She cherished spoiling her grandchildren
and frequently traveled with Rocky to attend their various events. She loved keeping score
during baseball games, a passion she continued until recently.
