Frank Jens Harkcom Date of Death: February 8, 2004 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Tacoma, WA. Date of Birth: May 21, 1941 Born: Longview, WA Born to: Helena E. (Adolphson) Harkcom and Lawrence H. Harkcom. Survived by: wife Elizabeth A. Harkcom, of the home in Port Orchard, Washington; daughter Cindy Bowers of Archbold, Ohio; son John Weber of Port Orchard, Washington; 4 Grandchildren; sisters Lola Critchfield of Lakebay, Washington and Molly Whipkey of Buckley, Washington; and, brother James Harkcom of Sequim, Washington; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his Son Jens. Frank was a wonderful caring man. He lived in the South Kitsap and Gig Harbor area from the 1950's attending the Peninsula District Schools. He joned the Navy in August 1959. He worked as a fisherman, bush picker, machinist, mechanic, and yard foreman for Pan Alaska Fishes. He owned and operated a 4X4 shop in Gig Harbor. After retiring he worked on his passion and hobby of rebuilding Jeeps with special interest in old military vehicles, restoring antique tractors and engines. He was an avid collector of old spark plugs and models. He loved to go four wheeling, hunting and fishing; and he had a great love of the outdoors. He was truly loved and will be missed by his large family and his many friends. Services will be held at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Washington with a gathering of his friends and family to follow.
