Pastor Frank J Schoonover

Pastor Frank J. Schoonover, 88, of Port Orchard, WA went to be with his Lord and Savior January 5, 2013 at Life Care Center in Port Orchard. He was born March 9, 1924 in Clayton, NM to Seley and Alma Schoonover. In his early teens the family moved to Portland, OR and in 1948 Frank graduated from NW Bible Institute and Seminary in Seattle, WA. He married his wife Peggy Jean Houk on August 17, 1946. His pastoral career covered 63 active years in Lebam, Marblemount, Port Orchard, and most recently as the pastor to the seniors at Christian Life Center. Frank served as chaplain with South Kitsap Fire and Rescue for 25 years and volunteered on the Kitsap County Juvenile Committee. He dedicated time with the Port Orchard Kiwanis Club and was voted Port Orchard Man of the Year. Frank is survived by his children Franciene (Gordon) Chrisman, Kathleen (Carl) Helton, Michael (Bonnie) Schoonover Sr, Mark (Lori) Schoonover, Donna (Lee) Speed, and Peter J. Houk; brother Clyde (Dorothy) Schoonover; grandchildren Greggory, Kevinn, Jodi, Steven, Shelly, Stacy, Kristy, Michael Jr, Andy, Nicole, David, Elizabeth, Diana, Janet, Jolene, Donald, Randy and Bryan; and 22 great grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sister. A viewing will be held at 1PM followed by a service at 2PM, Saturday, January 12, at Christian Life Center in Port Orchard.
