Fred A. Smithson, 84 of Port Orchard, Washington died in Bremerton, Washington on April 29, 2008. He was born December 22, 1923 in Woodruff, Arizona to Dennis & Lorena (Weech) Smithson. He attended Common Schools of Navajo County, Arizona. He married Virginia Sutherland on April 22, 1983 in Seattle. Fred worked as a Truck Driver for Safeway & Sears in Seattle for 32 years, retiring in 1983. He was also an apartment manager in Seattle, Kirkland & Silverdale. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. Fred loved woodworking, dancing, games, and a good joke. He was a member of the Elks, VFW, American Legion, and the Eagles. Surviving are wife Virginia, sons Mark (Shirley) of Milton-Freewater, Oregon, Cliff (Mary) of Port Orchard, Paul Kellogg, Jerry Kellogg, & Bruce (Jean) Kellogg; daughter Laurie (Gerry) Lemont of Port Orchard; former daughter-in-law Paula Kellogg; brothers Dan of Olympia, Washington and Horace (Jean) Woodruff of Arizona; sister Amber Edwards of Ogden; 19 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by first wife June, 3 brothers, & 2 sisters. Life Celebration May 2, 2008 at 3:30pm, Port Orchard Vista, 900 Mitchell, Port Orchard.
