Gary Harold Clifford, 73 of Port Orchard, died in Bremerton on April 1, 2014. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on May 21 1940 to Harold & Louise (Chaffee) Clifford. He met his first wife Paulette in France and they were married in 1960. She died in 1999 after 38 years of marriage. Later he married Truel Ballard in 2011, after several years together.
He spent much of his adult life the U.S. Army, serving in both Korea and Vietnam, retiring as a Warrant Officer after 21 years. After retiring from the Army, he worked at Virginia Mason and later at Westbay in Port Orchard.
Gary loved the mountains and ocean and spent lots of time fishing, camping and hiking.
Surviving are wife Truel; birth mother Lyola of Massachusetts; brothers Dennis Chaffee and Douglas Chaffee of Massachusetts; daughters Elaine Clifford of Port Orchard and Brenda (Christopher) Robinson of Tacoma; grandchildren Ian & Ginger of Tacoma; 3 stepchildren and step grandchildren; many nieces, nephews; and his best friend & fishing buddy Jack Hughson of Port Orchard. He was preceded in death by his birth father Edric Chaffee
