Gary A. Shadbolt, 65 of Port Orchard, Washington died on March 4, 2001 at Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. He was born on March 8, 1935 in Gig Harbor, Washington to Roy & Mary (Blair) Shadbolt. Gary graduated from Peninsula High School in 1954. He married Shirley E. Hodges on August 29, 1964 in Gig Harbor.Mr. Shadbolt worked for Ace Paving Company for 13 years as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic before retiring in 1981. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve for 2 years before entering active duty in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. He acheived the rank of Specialist 4th Class. Gary was a musician and member of the Country Western Music Association. His music was appreciated by many.Surviving are his wife Shirley; sons Robert Mairer of Tahuya, Washington, Patrick Shadbolt of Port Orchard, Matthew Shadbolt of Tukwila, Washington, and Michael Hodges of Port Orchard; daughter Julia Menou of Port Orchard; brothers Milo Shadbolt of Oregon City, Oregon and Jack Shadbolt of Tahuya; sisters Helen Davis of Edmonds, Washington and Agnes Dillion of Springfield, Oregon; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by son Christopher Shadbolt (1997); brothers Ray Shadbolt, Jr., Herbert Shadbolt, James Shadbolt, Robert Shadbolt, Sr.; sister Dorothy Mosley; and half-brother Charles Blair.Visitation will be at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard on Thursday, March 8, 2001 from 10:00am to Noon. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00pm at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
