Gaye Anne Notar

Gaye Anne Notar, 68, of Port Orchard, WA, died August 23, 2015 at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, WA. Gaye was born October 15, 1946 in North Hollywood, CA to James Edward Eakins Sr. and Kathryn Adelle Slane Dorow. She graduated from high school and attended college in La Crescenta, CA. Gaye married Eugene Louis Notar on August 9, 1980 who preceded her in death December 14, 2006. They made their home and raised their children in Port Orchard where she spent most of her life.
Gaye’s greatest joy vocationally was serving as church secretary at King of Glory Lutheran Church near Purdy, WA for almost 20 years. Her son John states, “As I reflect on my Mon’s life I remember that she was the kindest, most generous person I have ever known. She always had a smile and a “mom hug” for anyone who met her. No matter how your day went, upon seeing her, your troubles melted away with her smile and her love for you. She wasn’t perfect but she was willing to give the shirt off her back if it would help even the tiniest bit. We grew up with very little but our house was rich in love and laughter even during the most difficult times. As I watched the visitors come to see her at the hospital I am reminded how much she meant to them and how much she touched their lives. She had a beautiful voice and was a member of the church choir for years, she loved to color with her grandchildren and nieces and nephews, crochet, and play piano. She was a great lover of movies and music and was a person of great faith. She was well loved and will be missed by many.” Her brother John Terry also states “When people remember Gaye, one word will come to mind, Love. For Gaye deeply loved and accepted each in her family – and beyond – with an extraordinary, selfless love - she would tell you that love came from above”.
Gaye is survived by her sons, John(Corrine) Notar of Port Angeles, Tom Notar of Bremerton, Grandchildren, Ashley Sommerfeld, Troyal Notar, Layne Notar, A1C Brandon Notar and Meagan Notar, Siblings, James Eakins, Jr., William Eakins, David Terry, John Terry, and Suzanna Dorow.
Graveside service will be 1 pm Monday, August 31, 2015 at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard, WA. A memorial service will follow, 2 pm, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Port Orchard, WA.
