Gene Monroe Baker, 90, passed peacefully away on the afternoon of November 20th, 2020.
Born October 31st, 1930 in Gainesville, TX to Monroe Baker and Ethel (Piltcher) Baker. He had two brothers and one sister. He spent most of his early childhood in Texas until his family moved up to Wilson, OK where met and married his true love Patricia Ann (Edgeman) Baker on December 19th, 1954.
As a little boy it was Gene's dream to join the Navy serve his country. At age 17 he enlisted the Navy and began his career. He had always said he never felt as if serving his country was a job. He proudly served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He also was the mind behind the Baker/Miller Pink Prison Study. After 30+ years he chose to retire as a Chief Warrant Officer. After retiring from the military, he went to work as the Harbor Master of the Port Orchard Marina.
Gene is survived in spirit by his wife of 66 years, Patricia Ann Baker, his only daughter Gina Ann (Baker) Hays, his three granddaughters, Alyssa Ann Sabelhaus, Reagan Nichole (Sabelhaus) Bradshaw and Sophia Grace Sabelhaus. And his two great grandchildren. He has always been the greatest Dad, Grandad, boss, and inspiration in the entire world. No one worked as hard as Gene Baker and we are a truly blessed family to have him as our own.
