Gene Jones, 89 years old of Port Orchard WA, died Saturday, September 17, 2017 with loved ones beside him.
Gene was born November 25, 1927, in Des Moines WA. He moved to Olalla, then later to Waterman. Gene attended South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, then went to work at the Puget Sound Naval shipyard. Gene was drafted into the Army in 1946, serving for two years.
On November 11,1947, he married the former Grace Maxwell. Gene then worked at the Puget Sound Naval ship yard as a machinist for 39 years, retired in 1985.
He is surviving is one brother, Robert Jones, one son, Gary R. Jones, daughter-in-law, Patricia Jones, granddaughters, Christine A. Urlacher, Marissa K. Fobian, grandson, Tyler R. Jones, great grandsons, Luke Urlacher, Dakota Urlacher, Jace Fobian.
Gene and his wife Grace spent 15 years working with South Kitsap Little League baseball organization.
Gene loved being with family, for the last 15 years he held a big pizza party at JP’S HY IU HEE HEE. He invited family and friends to enjoy and celebrate his birthday.
Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting, driving through the Olympic Mountains, watching the Mariners, along with keeping track of every game and the score. He also loved playing golf.
Gene, also known as Pop, was kind, generous, loving father and grandfather. He will be missed by so many that loved him.
