George Eugene Burrows, 78 of Tahuya, Washington, died in Port Orchard on December 27, 2009. He was born September 24, 1931 in Seattle, WA to George F & Ella (Brock) Burrows. George worked for 29 years as a Pipefitter and Rigger at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, retiring in 1986. He also served as a Pipefitter in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer 3rd Class from 1952 to 1957. George enjoyed fishing, liked cats, and was always there to help anyone he could. He was a Volunteer for "Neighborhood Watch" at Collins Lake, making sure everyone was safe. He was a Catholic. Surviving are daughter Tamara (Gary) Coutu of Olympia; sister Lois Crawford; and grandchildren Brandon Costello, Robert Kelley, Destiny Kelley, David Moyer, heather Gracie, Casey Coutu, and Kara Coutu; great-grandchild Victor Gracie. He was preceded in death by brother Lloyd Burrows and sisters Myrtle Fowler and Ione Draper. Committal at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent will be scheduled at a later date.
