George H. Vanderbilt, 90, of Manchester, WA, died November 19, 2001, at Manor Care in Gig Harbor, WA. George was born August 30, 1911, in Palmer, WA, to William and Jessie (MacDonald) Vanderbilt. He graduated from Queen Anne High School in Seattle, WA, in 1929.George served in the United States Army during World War II, receiving his Honorable Discharge November 13, 1945. He attained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.On April 9, 1955, he married Willetta ''Billie'' Gross in Gig Harbor.After serving in the Army, George worked as a Field Manager for the Washington State Department of Game for 30 years, retiring in 1976.George was a quiet man who enjoyed reading and watching sports.Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Willetta ''Billie'' Vanderbilt, of Manchester; step sons, Dan Clark, of Olympia, WA, and Michael Hoffman, of Bainbridge Island, WA; step daughter, Betty Hoffman, of Sedro-Woolley, WA; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Vanderbilt and sister, Dorothy Lathrop.
