George A Wagner

June 19, 1931 — February 27, 2014

George passed away on February 27, 2014.
George was born in the Bronx, New York to Herman and Louise Wagner, German immigrants who owned a local delicatessen.
At the age of 9, he met the love of his life, the girl next door, June who he married in 1951.
George began learning to become a master baker at the age of 14, taking time off in 1951 while being drafted in the Korean war and serving in the US Army where he trained as a cook. After being discharged from the Army in 1961 he and his wife, June owned a bakery in New Jersey where people lined up daily for his amazing baking creations.
After moving from New Jersey to California, George joined the US Navy reserves in 1971 and eventually going full active duty in 1973 where he was a mess cook and had the honor to be the Captains cook as he served on several ships, including the recommissioned USS Missouri. George retired from the US Navy as a Chief in 1993 and enjoyed his retirement fishing and woodworking in his garage/shop making timeless wood pieces, such as quilt racks, rocking horses, hope chests and many benches and shelves for his family to cherish.
George loved to go fishing and went on several fishing trips and was a member of Kitsap Pogey Club for the last 17 years.
George is survived by his 4 daughters that had the honor to call him Daddy, Debra of Port Orchard, Robin of North Carolina, Dawne of Oregon and Michelle of Port Orchard, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. George is also survived by his brother Reverend Walter Wagner and his sister, Barbara Kennedy both of New Jersey.
George was preceded in death by his wife, June, his father Herman and his mother Louise and also his sister Pearl.
At George's request there are no services. His ashes, along with the ashes of his wife, June are to be scattered together at a location that held a very special place to both of them at a later date in a private family ceremony.
