On March 23, 2025, Gerald (Jerry) N. Sather passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was born on November 25, 1943, to Alfred and Gertrude (Dolly) Sather and had an older brother, Ron. Jerry grew up in Burien, Washington, where he attended Sunnydale Elementary, Sunset Junior High School, and Highline High School. Upon graduation, Gerald joined the Air Force, where he specialized in copying Morse code. After four years of service, he left the military to pursue a teaching degree and earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington.
Jerry dedicated over 40 years to the Highline School District, teaching Physical Education (K through 6th grade) and General Education (3rd through 6th grade). During summers, he built and painted houses. In retirement, Gerald enjoyed spending precious time with his grandchildren (Emma, Luke, Sierra, Ayla, Charlie, Nate, Miles, Liam, and Conner), boating, fishing, crabbing, cheering on the Huskies, and completing projects around the house.
Jerry is survived by Jennifer Sather (Isbell), married for 25 years, and stepchildren Jeremy Isbell (Lori Isbell), Megan Martin (Andy Martin), and Justin Isbell (Erin Isbell). He is also survived by Sheri Russom (married for 30 years) and their child Jolene Wallace (Sather). Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Marie Sheri Sather (1973), brother, Ron Sather (2024), and parents, Al & Dolly Sather.
