Gladys E. Ward, age 85, died July 18,1999 in Des Moines, WA. She was born to George and Jennie Stoaks on January 18, 1914 in Puyallup, WA where she was raised. On October 8, 1938 in Bellingham, WA she married Ray Kratz. She and Ray ran the 'Prices Drive in Dairy Store' in Port Orchard, WA. Ray preceded her in death in 1959. For many years she worked at the Port Orchard Police Department. She was also a clerk for Judge Watts in Port Orchard, and she worked at Kimmell's Grocery Store on Vashon Island and at Bremer's Department store in Bremerton, WA. Following Ray's death she married Lee Ward. Gladys was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and of the Port Orchard and Gig Harbor Methodist Church. She also owned and operated a dance apparel store in Tacoma, WA and retired after 14 years. She is survived by her daughter Phyllis Bach, of Shoreline, WA.,; stepson Leroy Ward, of Maryland; grandchildren Brian Bach, of Shoreline, WA., Darrin Bach, of Lake Stevens, WA., Lenora Stallings, of Tucson, AZ., Nicole Walling, of Oklahoma City, OK., Michael Ward of Atlanta, GA., Skip Ward, of Frederick, MD., 8 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by both spouses. Funeral services will be held at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, WA., Tuesday July 27, 1999 at 1:00p.m, with a reception to follow the services. Interment at Sunset Lane Cemetery will follow the service.
