Glenda E. Cook, 88, a former long-time resident of Grants Pass, OR., passed away at Ridgemont Terrace Nursing Home in Port Orchard, WA on April 27, 2000.She was born in Hollywood, CA on August 12, 1911 and moved to Grants Pass in Dec. 1946. Glenda worked at the Golden Rule Department Store, Rogue Valley Poultry, and was the Office Manager for Byrd's Market from 1959 until she retired in 1976. Glenda had many interests in life but her principal pleasure was derived from following the careers of her three sons. All were career naval officers, but now pursue interests in writing, politics and yachting.She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Grants Pass.She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde L. Cook, who died in December 1969, her parents Fred H. Girvin and Jennie Evelyn Lutes of Simi, California, and two brothers John H Girvin of Olympia, WA and Ronald Girvin of Simi, California.Survivors include her sons: Fred G. Hale of Hatteras, North Carolina, Roy G. Hale of La Plata, Maryland and Richard D. Cook of Manchester, Washington; her brother Richard Girvin of Laguna Beach, California; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.Services will be held at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens in Grants Pass at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2.
