Gordon Gilman

April 28, 1921 — January 30, 2006

Gordon C. "Gil" Gilman of Port Orchard, Washington died at home with loved ones on January 30, 2006. He was 84. He was born April 28, 1921 in New Effington, South Dakota to Willard and Jessie Gilman. Gordon was married to Jacqueline (Matteson) Gilman for 41 years. She resides in the Port Orchard family home. Gordon attained a GED in Rhinelander, Wisconsin in 1939. He was U.S. Army (Ret.) - having served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1944 - 1964 - (during WWII and Korean Wars). Gordon worked for 20 years at South Kitsap School Dirstrict - retiring in 1990. He served as bus driver for 3 years and custodian for 17 years. He enjoyed reading westerns, watching football and doing anything outdoors. Gordon is survived by wife - Jacqueline (Matteson) Gilman of the family home in Port Orchard; parents - Willard and Jessie Gilman; son - Tony Gilman (Kathy) of Yuba City, California; daughters - Robin Hill (Wayne), Melissa Gardner (Shane), Darcy Notar (Tom)- all of Port Orchard; brother - Gail Gilman of San Diego, California; sisters - Lucy Skinner, Inez Riley, Darlene Brower, Karen Statezny - all of Wisconsin, and Shirley Hale of Minnesota; 8 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Gordon is preceded in death by sister - Florence Belongia; and brother - Itha George Gilman. A Memorial Service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Friday, February 3, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to: Bethany Lutheran Youth Fund 151 Tremont W.
