Gordon O'Brien died Marcy 13, 2003 in the family home in Milton, Washington. He was 85.He was born June 7, 1917 in Seattle, Washington to Madelaine Dinesen (O'Brien).He married Betty O'Brien June 1, 1946 in Port Orchard, Washington.Gordon attended South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington.He served in the Navy from 1941 - 1947. He was recognized for special service to his country in the Pacific Theater and participated in the Admiral Byrd Expedition of Antartica in 1947.Gordon was a logger for 50 years - retiring in 1985.He enjoyed gardening, bowling, and Wednesday night pinocle.Gordon is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Rose Grant of Milton, Washington; son - David Gordon O'Brien of Chehalis, Washington; daughters - Sharon O. Marchant of Valdez, Alaska and Karen Denbo of Milton, Washington; and, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother - David W. (Bill) Gray.Rosary will be held at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, Washington on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at 7:30 p.m.The funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 1001 N. J. St. in Tacoma, Washington at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2003. A reception will follow the funeral mass at St. Patrick's.
