Grace Beatrice Griebel

Grace Beatrice Griebel, 89, passed away on February 17, 2024 in Port Orchard, WA. She was born November 19, 1934 to Gregory Posey and Kathleen (Sevier) Posey in Spring Coulee, Alberta, Canada. Grace moved to Port Orchard, WA with her family in 1942. She was the oldest daughter of 11 children. In 1953, she graduated from South Kitsap High School, where she was involved with Girls Athletic Association activities. Grace married Thomas LeRoy Griebel on February 19, 1955 in Port Orchard, WA, while he was serving in the US Army. She worked at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Keyport for a couple of years before becoming a homemaker. Grace enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball, bowling, camping, fishing, gardening, following her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, and cheering for the UW Huskies, Seattle Seahawks, and Seattle Mariners. She loved family gatherings, especially with cornhole tournaments. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Kathleen and Gregory Posey; brothers, Alvin, Roy, and Herbert Posey; children, Darrell, Duane, and Elaine Griebel. Survivors include husband, Thomas L. Griebel; brothers, Seth, Ron, and Don Posey; sisters, Florence Dunleavy, Ramona Rauch, Mary Ann Sandberg, and Lynda Rhines; children, June Fike, Thomas G. Griebel, and Gordon Griebel; 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
