Gwen Eleanor Hutsell

Gwen Eleanor Hutsell, 89, of Gig Harbor, died peacefully Jan. 12, 2014. She was born July 17, 1924 in Kansas City, MO. to Ivor E. Reese and Gertrude (Cramer) Reese. Gwen graduated from Northeast H.S. in Kansas City, MO. in 1942 and married Dale V. Hutsell on Sept. 17, 1942.
Gwen was a wife and mother first, a Tupperware representative, Safeco Insurance employee and in later years worked as a data control technician in the registrars office at Seattle Central Community College, retiring in 1982.
While living in Seattle, Gwen attended the First Baptist Church of White Center for many years. After moving to Trails End Lake after retirement she was a member of Allyn Baptist Church. She was a senior volunteer with the HOSTS (Help One Student to Succeed) program at Sand Hill and Belfair Elementary schools, and a member of the Trails End Community Club.
Gwen was proud of her Welsh Heritage. She enjoyed music and singing in the choir, working in the church, and time with family and travel.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, her sisters, Vesta Belle Hutsell, Donna Addison and brothers Ivor Jr. "Bud" Reese and Evan Reese.
Gwen is survived by her son David (Shamana) Hutsell, her daughters, Donna (Bill) Huhn, Beverly (Jerry) Smith, Alice (Steve) Salter, Ellen (Marvin) Wright, and Mary (Kees) Tammer. Her sister Janis Peters, brothers Trevor Reese, Gordon Reese. Seventeen grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express our gratitude to the caring staff at Olympic Alzheimer's Residence.
A memorial service will be 2:00 pm, Jan. 25th at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
