H. Ruona

June 18, 1948 — July 26, 2011

Henry Scott Ruona passed away July 26, 2011. He left this world the way he lived in it, quietly and peacefully, comforted by the love of his family. He fought esophageal cancer courageously for two years, never letting it slow him down. Scott was born on June 18, 1948, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, to Henry and Ruby (Steele) Ruona. He is survived by his loving wife, Toni (Flowers), cherished daughters Kimberly of Houston, TX, and Kelly of San Jose, CA, sister and brother-in-law Bonnie and Bob Johnson of Ontonagon, MI, mother-in-law Grace Flowers of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and many more special relatives. Scott retired from ESAB Welding and Cutting in Ashtabula, OH, in 2002, after 28 years, having worked his way from the factory floor to Manager of Production Scheduling & Logistics. He was fortunate to retire early, move to Port Orchard, WA, and spend many days at the family cabin relaxing on his boat on Lake Cushman. Scott shared a talent for playing hockey with his niece’s children and delighted in the opportunities he had to watch them play and talk to them about the sport he loved. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial service will be held at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, in June 2012. Scott was grateful for the compassionate, expert care he received from Dr. Ronald Reimer and the nursing teams at both Harrison Hematology and Oncology and on 2 West at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, WA. Contributions in Scott’s memory can be made to the Harrison Medical Center Foundation to help fund an Oncology Healing Garden. Those who wish to contribute may call (360)744-6760, mail to 2520 Cherry Ave., Bremerton, WA, 98310, or visit www.harrisonfoundation.org .
