Harold R. Fries, 96, died at home in Port Orchard, WA January 15, 2008. He was born August 13, 1911 in Walla Walla, Washington to John & Elisabeth (Buterus) Fries. He graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1929 & married Hazel Francis Russell on September 2, 1933, also in Walla Walla. She preceded him in death in 1996. Harold worked for 35 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, retiring in 1972 as a Maintenance Supervisor in Shop 07. He also worked as Assistant Manager at JC Penney in Walla Walla & Baker Oregon & worked on the Coulee Dam. Harold loved growing roses and vegetable gardening. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, & music, and was proficient in several musical instruments. He was a devoted family man. Surviving are daughters Lei Launi Johnson of Anaheim, California, Diane (Robert) Galbraith of Bainbridge Island WA, Jeannie Powers of Manchester WA; brothers Don (Carolyn) Fries of Mead WA and Jerry (Joan) Fries of Harrington WA; grandchildren Adam Moore, Scott Johnson, Kerri Bailey, Diane Johnson, Jennifer Powers-Pixton; great-grandchildren Hannah, Max, & Annalyse Moore, and Tyler & Trevor Bailey; and niece Joyce (Vince) Billante.
