Harold Hauenstein

Harold Hauenstein March 25, 1910-November 24, 2003 Harold James Hauenstein, 93, of Bremerton died Monday in Bremerton. He was born in Scranton, N.D., to Morris and Mathilde (Holte) Hauenstein. He graduated from Stanwood High School in Stanwood, Washington, in 1928. On December 2, 1933, he married Gertrude Heath in Snoqualmie. Mr. Hauenstein was employed as a sheetmetal worker at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 32 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Kitsap Banjo Band and volunteered with Lutheran Social Services. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard Hauenstein and his wife, Lorraine, of Kent and Gary Hauenstein and his wife, Judy, of Tacoma; a brother, Norman Hauenstein of Florida; a sister, Violet Thomas of Issaquah; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Hauenstein was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Vickie Hauenstein, and two sisters, Wilma Kahler and Mildred Hauenstein. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rill Chapel's Life tribute Center in Port Orchard. Interment will be at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383-3416 or to the South Kitsap District 7 Medic Aid Unit Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Mountain View Funeral Home in Tacoma and Rill Chapel.
