Harold Pettit

Harold Richard Pettit, 82, died July 17, 2008 at Life Care Center of Port Orchard.  He was born March 23, 1926 in Cashmere, Washington to James & Florence (Hoyt) Pettit.  He married Bernice Marie Smith Feb. 6, 1960 in Stanwood.  She preceded him in death in 2002.  Harold worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a Electrician.  He retired after 20 years in the U.S. Army and then the U.S. Navy, serving in Korean War and the Vietnam wars.  Harold enjoyed gardening, reading western novels and many other activities.  Surviving are children Penny Josephsen of Sedro Woolley, WA, Elizabeth (Jim) Davidson of Port Orchard, Randy (Karen) Duane of Seattle, Deanna (Ray) Hoyt of Olalla, Kathy Duane of Port Orchard, and David Pettit of Port Orchard; brothers Jim, Ralph and Robert Pettit; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Thursday, July 24th at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.  Graveside committal at 10:30am on Friday, July 25th at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.
