Harold Smith

November 28, 1936 — April 10, 2005

Harold Lee Smith, 68, of Bremerton, WA, died April 10, 2005, at his home of esophageal cancer with metastasis to the stomach, liver and lymph system. Hal was born November 28, 1936, in Pleasant Hill, Pike County, IL, to John Turner Bradley and Virgie Ellen (Quaite) Bradley. He was adopted by his Aunt Mary Hazel (Quaite) Smith in 1953. Hal graduated from Louisiana High School in Louisiana, MO, in 1954. Hal married his first wife Cathrine Louise (Selby) Smith on August 22, 1956, in Port Orchard, WA. They were divorced in February 1985 and she survives him in MO. On December 14, 1985, Hal married his current wife Julie Anna (Clare) Smith in Reno, NV. Hal served in the US Navy from July 1954 to July 1973, retiring as an HMC (E7). While in the Navy, he received extensive training in medical and blood bank technology. After serving for his country, Hal worked as Director of Ancillary Services at the Doctors Clinic in Bremerton for 25 years retiring in 1998. Besides fishing and genealogy research, Hal was very active in his church, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bremerton. Survivors include his wife Julie Anna (Clare) Smith, of Bremerton, WA; sons, Milo Wayne Smith and Roxanne Elizabeth (Radtke) Smith, of Belfair, WA, David Lee Smith and Kathryn L. (Borroz) Smith, of Tahuya, WA, James Edward Smith and Kimberly LaTrelle (Sapp) Smith, of Grandy, NC, Timothy Lee Thomas and Theresa Ann (Van Mater) Thomas, of Athol, ID, and Matthew Wayne Miskowski and Shannon Kathleen (Cartwright) Miskowski, of Honolulu, HA; daughters, Denise Lynne (Smith) Lilley and Richard Lilley, of Port Orchard, WA, Dawn Louise Smith, of Port Orchard, WA, and Tammy Lorene (Miskowski) Flanagan and Ryan William Flanagan, of Bremerton, WA; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and Godmother Elsie Nadine Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents and all siblings, John, Charles, and Louise Bradley. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 18, 2005, 7:00PM, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with a reception following in the social hall.
