Harvey Reed

Harvey K. Reed, 94, of Bremerton, WA died July 19, 2011 at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. He was born June 30, 1917 in Omaha, NE to Margaret (Hamilton) Button and John M. Reed. He moved to Port Orchard in 1942 and served in the 8th Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945 attaining the rank of Corporal. Harvey worked at the Retsil Veterans Home, NAD Bremerton, and retired from the Supply Dept at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1972 with over 30 years’ service. He enjoyed camping and tinkering around the home. Survivors include his wife Helen (Collins) Reed whom he married Aug 31, 1947 in Port Orchard; sister Hazel Sammons, of TX; stepsister Goldy Nave, of FL; children Harvey (Jill) Reed and Susan (Rodger) Melchior, of Poulsbo; grandchildren Shannon (Don) Spencer, Angela (William) Catron, Ryan Reed, and Carin (John) Weier; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 11AM, Wed, July 27, 2011 at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
