Hazel Brooks

Hazel Elliott Brooks, 82 of Belfair, Washington died on February 7, 2006 at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard, Washington. She was born in Washington County, Kentucky on December 3, 1923 to Mandeville A. & Ruby O. (Mc Murray) Elliott. She graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, Kentucky in 1942 and from the Washington University School of Nursing in St. Louis in 1954. Hazel married Garnett A. Brooks in Seattle, Washington on June 20, 1959. Hazel retired as a Registered Nurse with Group Health Hospital in Seattle after 36 years. She specialized in premature infants. She was a member of the Nursing School Alumni Association. Hazel enjoyed gardening, decorating her home, and caring for her husband. Surviving are her husband Garnett of the family home in Belfair; son Aaron Brooks of Belfair; daughter Anita Earls of Durham, North Carolina; sisters-in-law Violet Elliott of Springfield, Kentucky and Shirley Johnson of Bellevue, Washington; and grandchildren Jeffrey Brooks, Shaun Elliott Brooks, and Dylan James Hodgkiss. Visitation at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard on Saturday, September 11, 2006 from 9:00am to Noon. A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2006 at the family home in Belfair. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
