Helen B Collins

Helen Bernadette Collins, 91 of Port Orchard, died in Gig Harbor on February 17, 2014. She was born October 15, 1922 in Baltimore, MD to Bernard H. & Helena (Schimmel) Thuman. She married Charles on April 25, 1959 in Bellevue, NE.
Helen received her diploma in nursing from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She served in the USAFNC from 1950 to 1959, in Germany for 3 years. She was one of the first Flight Nurses in the Air Force and retired from nursing in 1990.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother Father Joseph, sisters Mary, Esther & Francis, and husband Charles. Surviving are son David (Linda); daughter Teresa (Robert), grandchildren Joseph, Philip, Elizabeth & Rachel; great-grandchildren Layla & Micah; brother Bernard; sister Catherine.
Viewing at 10:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Friday, February 21, 2014 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard. Online memorial at www.rill.com
