Helen Luckey

Helen Luckey, 91 of Port Orchard, Washington died on September 30, 2007. She was born on October 15, 1915 in Torrington, Wyoming to David & Elisabeth (Eberle) Schimke and was raised in Ellendale, North Dakota. She graduated from Forbes High School in Forbes, North Dakota in 1933. Helen married Russel J. Luckey, LCDR, USN, Ret October 27, 1947 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Helen was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening, country living and loved animals. She was a member of the Long Lake Garden Club and volunteered for the Navy Relief Society. Surviving are son Russell (Cindy) Luckey of Yakima, Washington; daughters Betsy (Jerry) Hart of Port Orchard; Susan (Pete) deLeuw of Mukilteo, Washington, Debbie (Bruce) Schoenrock of Oregon City, Oregon; brother Toby (Eugenia) Schimke of Ephrata, Washington; sisters Elsye Nicholson of Bismarck, North Dakota and Evelyn (Clarence) Heil of Plainfield, Illinois; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be October 3, 2007 from Noon to 5:00 pm and October 4th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral Service at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Memorial donations may be made to the South Kitsap Fire and Rescue, 1974 Fircrest Drive SE, Port Orchard, WA 98366. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
