Helen Rice

Helen Evelyn Rice, age 98, died Feb. 4, 2000 in Port Orchard, WA.  She was born July 20, 1901 in Selby, SD., to Arne and Mathilde (Elden) Strand.  She was raised in and around Walworth County, SD.  She graduated from Selby High School in 1919.  She married William LaVester Rice Nov. 10, 1921 in Selby, SD.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Mystic Rebekah Lodge #168.  She is survived by her daughter Dorothy McGee of Port Orchard, WA., grandchildren Ronald McGee of Ellensberg, WA., Denise Earle of Idaho Falls, ID and 2 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.  Memorial services will be held at the Port Orchard United Methodist Church, Feb.9, 2000 at 2:00 p.m.  Interment is at Sunset Lane Cemetery prior to the memorial service.  Memorial donations may be made to the Port Orchard United Methodist Memorial fund, 725 Kitsap St., Port Orchard, WA 98366.
