Helen Edna Ristvet

July 24, 1916 — June 27, 2016

Helen was born in Seattle, WA. She attended Brighton Public School in Rainer Valley. She completed all studies and was promoted up to Franklin High School. Her final year at Brighton, she achieved perfect attendance. On June 13, 1935 she graduated from high school.
Helen married James Lloyd Kingston in 1937, he passed away on August 15, 1960. Her daughter Beverly preceded her in death. She is survived by her son Jim, 5 grand children and 7 great-grand children. Her second husband Charlie Ristvet also preceded her in death.
Helen was a charter member of Olalla Grange #1125. She held the office of Master, Secretary, Women's Activities, Lady Assistant to the Steward. She was also Washington State Grange Women's Activities Northwest District Chairwoman.
She helped found and served as Captain of the Olalla Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. She was very active in NARFE, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees for over 30 years, holding many different leadership positions through the years.
In 1976, she married Charlie Ristvet. They traveled extensively through the western United states and Canada in their Airstream trailer. They would be gone for months at a time. After Charlie's passing, she continued to travel. She would find a friend and share a room. She visited Russia, China, Australia, Europe, England, Spain, New Zealand, and more.
In 2006 her health was such that she could no longer travel. At this time, she moved to Stafford Suites in Port Orchard. She soon became a staff favorite and made many friends among the residents. This remained true right up to her death.
Family requests donations to Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center in lieu of flowers.
