Helen Anne Vargo

April 12, 1943 — January 8, 2024

Helen Vargo of Port Orchard died surrounded by family in Gig Harbor, Washington on January 8th, 2023, at the age of 80. She was born in Tacoma, Washington to Charles & Helen Muench. Helen grew up in Tacoma and graduated from Mt. Tahoma High School. She married Robert “Bob” Vargo in 1964. Family was everything to Helen. She was a wonderful and selfless mother and grandmother who always put her family first. Besides driving and volunteering for Chuck Wagon and Catholic Community Services, she was a proud member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church and the St. Anthony’s Guild. She spent many Friday nights with her friends playing Bingo at the Knights of Columbus social hall and she was on a bowling league at Hi-Joy Bowl for many years. Helen was a huge fan of the Seahawks and the Mariners – especially Edgar Martinez. Helen thrived on spending time with friends and family, and her kind and precious spirit will be missed by many.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert. Surviving are her children; daughter Mary and her husband Steve Allen of Gig Harbor, son Rob Vargo and his wife Felicia of Poulsbo; grandchildren Chris, Jacob, Ian, Mikaeyla, Stevie, Robbie, and Paige; and great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 2nd, 2024, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard followed by a reception at the Church. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Tacoma where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Robert.
