Henry Maluea Akana of Port Orchard, Washington (formerly of Dededo, Guam) died in natural state/peacefully while asleep on April 4, 2006 at Life Care Center of Port Orchard, Washington. He was 86. Henry was born in Pahala Kau, Hawaii to Sun Jay Akana and Mailea Pawela on November 11, 1919. He married Cecelia (Untalan) Akana November 25, 1959 in Tamuning, Guam. Henry attended Pahala High School in Pahala, Hawaii. He served in Schofield, Illinois for the Department of Army from September 1942 to June 1950. Henry was a Heavy Equipment and Specialist with U.S. Anderson Air Force 43rd Civil Engineer Squadron in Yigo, Guam - retiring June 1986. He operated all types of heavy equiments and trained civilian and military personnel to operate and maintain heavy equipments. Henry was a member of the Santa Barbara Church in Dededo, Guam and Saint Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard, Washington. He loved fishing and camping; planting and gardening specializing in tropical plants and fruits. A visitation will be held at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Washington on April 12, 2006 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. A funeral mass will be held at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard, Washington on April 12, 2006 at 12 noon. Burial will be held at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard, Washington. Henry is survived by wife - Cecelia (Untalan) Akana of Port Orchard, washington (formerly of of Barrigada, Guam); sons - Edward U. (Karen) Akana of Fayettville, North Carolina, Richard Untalan (Ana) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Doris Youong of Dededo, Guam, John U. Akana (Floripina) of Puyallup, Washington, Jacob Akana (Virginia) of Culver City, California; daughters - Frances Y. Salinas(Russell) of Santa Clara, California, Helena A. Perez of Dededo, Guam, Priscilla A. (Pius) Robinson of Port Orchard, Washington, Thelma Yanagida (Akira) of Hilo, Hawaii; 27 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; extended family/or special friends - Lourdes and Michael Casaway, Frank Untalan, Atanasio and Caroline Untalan, Mae Quichocho, Pilar and Joe Jardel, Virginia and Ignacio San Nicholas, Joe Untalan He was preceded in death by son - David Akana, sisters - Mabel Wong, Alice Asejo and Elizabeth Yamamoto, brothers - Joe Akana, Jacob Akana and Claire Young.
