Herbert Pfeffer

Herbert A. Pfeffer, age 99, died April 19, 2000 in Port Orchard, WA. He was born April 4, 1901 in Sheboygan, WI to Richard and Maria (Sinner) Pfeffer. Most recently he worked as a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard before retiring April 30, 1968. Mr. Pfeffer was also a farm boss at the Eau Claire County Hospital in Wisconsin for 20 years. He then moved his family to Port Orchard in 1944. In Port Orchard he worked in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until April 30, 1968 with the exception of 3 years immediately following the end of WWII. He married Loraine Close in Port Orchard, WA on Nov. 26, 1972. He is survived by his wife Florence Pfeffer of Port Orchard, WA., stepsons Wayne Close of Tomah, WI., Phillip Close, Lakeville, MN., daughters Beverly Hammach of Bremerton, WA.,Harriet Pomerenk of Seattle, A., Dorothy Morrison of Port Orchard, WA., Shirley Rhode of Elk River, MN., 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.Mr. Pfeffer is preceded in death by his first wife Leona in 1972, son Herbert in 1983, sister Lydia Kallies, sister Elsie Ring, brother Alfred Pfeffer and brother Arnold Pfeffer.Visitaiton will be at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, April 24th, 25th from 9:00a.m.-5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at Rill Chapel April 26th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard, WA.Memorial donations may be made to Christ The Rock Community Church, Box 1336, Port Orchard, WA., 98366 or the Port Orchard Care Center, 2031 Pottery Ave., Port Orchard, WA., 98366, or a charity of your choice.
