Howard Eugene Riggleman

February 8, 1938 — July 6, 2022

Howard Eugene Riggleman peacefully passed away July 6, 2022 with his loving and caring wife, Brenda, at his side in Port Orchard, Washington. Despite health challenges he faced in recent years, Howard’s friendly disposition, ready smile, and optimism were life-long qualities which endeared him to those he has known for decades as well as newer friends and caregivers.
Howard was born in 1938 in Hamilton, Montana and attended schools in Missoula, Troy, and Libby, MT. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and an active member of the Catholic Church. In 1959 He married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Croy, started a family, and moved to Washington State in 1962. They made their home in Renton, WA where Howard spent 40 years as an auto mechanic with the Goodyear Tire Company, retiring in 2001. Their retirement dream to move to a “beach house” on Puget Sound came true over 20 years ago where many more lasting memories were made with family and friends.
Howard deeply loved his family and was a dedicated son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Family gatherings brought him so much joy where he was often a quiet presence and enjoyed the laughter and celebrations he was part of. He loved attending school and sporting events in support of his children and grandchildren, and was a dedicated Mariners and Seahawks fan. He was blessed to have Brenda’s love, care, and companionship through their 63 years of marriage.
Howard’s many long-time friends were also an important part of his life, many of whom he and Brenda met through their church activities at St. Anthony’s parish in Renton. This group enjoyed special vacations together over the years as well as spending some winter months together in Arizona in retirement.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Elsie Riggleman; brothers Chub and Don Riggleman; and grandson, Adam Riggleman. He is survived by his wife, Brenda; brother Del Riggleman (Gwen); sister-in-law Dorothy Salesses; son Mark Riggleman (Lori); son Jay Riggleman (Kimber); daughter Teri Cranston (Allan); daughter Kelly Bash (John); and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church; 1150 Mitchell Avenue SE; Port Orchard, WA 98366. A reception will follow at the church.
