Hugh Wells was born September 8, 1933 in Tacoma, WA to John and Florence Wells and passed away December 5, 2010. He was raised in Tacoma with his 8 brothers and sisters. Hugh is survived by his brothers John (Carol) and Jim (Maxine) and by his sisters Florence (Bob) Guthrie and Mary (Donn McLaughlin) Haynie and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Bud, Bob and Bill and his sister Frances. Hugh went on to have his own large family with his first wife Nancy. Together they had 9 children, Greg, Jack (Michelle), Lori (Pat) Smith, Russ (Mary), Mary (Dave) Wilson, Paul, Annie (Justin) Rishel and Kathie (Doug) Thoma. Their son Joseph died in infancy. Hugh is also survived by 39 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his grandson Andrew. Hugh is also survived by his second wife Dori and her children Nick, Linda, Debbie, Kathy and Phil. He is preceded in death by his step-daughter Dawn. Hugh loved golfing and camping and playing cribbage with his boys. He enjoyed working in the garden and grilling a perfect steak. Hugh had a great sense of humor and was making his family laugh right up until the end. Despite that great sense of humor he was completely incapable of remembering a joke and telling it properly. The greatest joy of Hugh's life has been spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to tell anyone who would listen about all the kids and grandkids he had. Where ever he lived he always had tons of pictures of family all around him. The love and support of his family brought Hugh peace and happiness at the end of his life. He will be remembered with heartfelt love and will be missed by all. Hugh's life will be celebrated with a funeral mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Tacoma, WA on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 1p.m. A reception will follow at the home of Kathie Thoma.
