Ida Sewell

Ida Mae Sewell of Port Orchard, Washington died of natural causes March 15, 2004. She was 93. She was born November 18, 1910 in Derby, Illinois to John A. and Sarah Ann (Modglin) Milligan. Ida married Ed Miller June of 1928; and, following his death in August of 1946, she married Llewellwyn Sewell February 1948. She worked 2 years as a practical nurse at Sunnyview Tuberculosis Sanitarium from 1946 to 1948. She also worked at Retsil Veterans Home for 19 years. Ida enjoyed volunteering at Retsil after retirement, and, Bingo; was Washington State Veteran Volunteer of the Year in 1992. She was Veterans Day Queen in Kitsap in 1984. She was past District VFW Auxiliary President, Life member Fleet Reserve Auxiliary Post 29, Military Order of Purple Heart Auxilary, Past President and Life Member VFW Auxiliary #2669, Charter Member and Past President Blue Star Mothers Chapter 4. She is survived by sons - Daniel Sewell of Wisconsin, Dennis Sewell of Port Orchard, Washington; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great/great-grandchild. Ida Mae was preceded in death by: husbands - Ed Miller and Llewellwyn Sewell; sons - Billy G. Miller and Edgar Max Miller. A memorial service will be held at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Washington on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a private committal at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard, Washington. She graduated from high school in Herod, Illinois in 1927.
