Irma Idalia Benavidez

October 12, 1948 — March 28, 2021

Irma Idalia Benavidez was born in San Diego, Texas on October 12, 1948 to Juanita Campos and Candelario E. Delgado. She was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, attending Ella Barnes and Roy Miller High School, class of 1968. Growing up, Irma worked many field jobs with her family such as picking cotton, but her primary job was being a wife and mother. Irma earned her GED in the early 1980’s. She was awarded the LULAC Scholarship for her achievement.
Irma was a member of Aglow and was very involved in the 1980’s and 1990’s. She was involved in the Prison Ministry. She held prayer meetings at her home before becoming sick. She was also a member of St. Gabriel’s Parish since 1975. Irma loved to be anywhere that her family gathered. She loved to travel to Texas to visit siblings and family. She also cherished having the family over to celebrate any and every occasion, including holidays and family reunions and BBQs. She loved softball, baseball, and football. She loved her Seahawks and loved to dance to her Tejano music. Irma will be remembered every time we see the colors yellow (especially roses), peach, and bright green. She loved anything that glittered and sparkled.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents: Candelario E. Delgado and Juanita Campos, her son: Daniel “Danny” Benavidez, Brothers: Candelario Delgado Jr., Daniel H. Delgado, Sisters: Carmelinda Perez, Graciela Perez, In Laws: Daniel R. Benavidez and Maria Alicia Cortez.
She is survived by her husband: Jose Enrique Benavidez, her sisters: Janie Barrera of Corpus Christi TX, Frances De Leon (Ruben) of Corpus Christi TX, Gloria Bustamante (Blas) of Tacoma WA, and Raquel Delgado of Uvalde TX, her children: Dorothy Benavidez Aboyte, Enrique Jose Benavidez (Amy), Thelma Day (Joel) and Hope Brandt (Greg), grandchildren: Quincy Benavidez (Danielle), Hiroshi Benavidez, Stephania Benavidez, Joel Day Jr., Whitney Benfield, Keiara Hollins (Lorenzo), Cole D. Brandt, and 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
