Jack E. Stege, 89, died in Port Orchard, Washington on February 14, 2001. He was born on December 29, 1911 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Harry E. and Dora (Gaunce) Stege. Jack graduated from Tulsa High School in Tulsa, Olkahoma in 1932. He married Irma Jarnagin on May 2, 1946 in Yuma, Arizona. She preceded him in death in 1996.Mr. Stege worked as a Project Engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, retiring in 1972. He was a Zoo Keeper in Los Angeles before World War II. Jack was a Captain in the U. S. Army from 1941 until 1946. He enjoyed the Elks Club, hunting, fishing, gardening, and photography. Surviving are son John Stege of Port Orchard; daughters Susan Stege of Kirtland, New Mexico and Jeanne Hoyt of Troutdale, Oregon; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.Private family service is pending. Inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
